The story is about someone trapped in an endless cycle. No matter what he tries to do differently, he is always faced with the same ending. Until: he realizes the persona who keeps he keeps re-cycling is simply himself. The only way to break the cycle is for him to kill himself.
In more relatable terms, you cannot grow into a better man while the past still haunts you. Let go of the past and continue living your life, no matter how tragic it was.
